Contact, Connect and Client
Business
development is the hardest part in any business. Especially now it is becoming
more difficult though there are more facilities available thanks to technology.
Internet provided really easy and efficient way to promote your services and
products online and get more and more clients to grow sales.
But is this really happening?
Most of the
time the answer is No?
Why this is
so?
Why
businesses are not getting real customers?
Why they are
not able to convert leads in to sales?
There are
many hidden factors behind this. However we need to understand the gap between
a contact and client
Not every
contact is your client!
Business
development is like fishing. Internet made ocean available to everyone but not
every fish suits to your business
First you
have to think and plan well what kind of Fishing You want? Accordingly select
the region and the fishing rod or net. Then start fishing with lot of patience
and consistency.
Once you
start getting contacts, first understand them clearly before offering them
anything. Ask them;
1. Their Name
2. Their Business
Name
3. Nature of Their
Business
4. Their Location
Convert these Contacts in to connection. For this you have to talk to them something really interest them.
You have to find a way to establish a permanent kind of
touch-base
Once you
feel they are comfortable talking to you. Find issues and/or requirement
related to services you are offering. If you are selling Products first try to
understand if they are falling in group of persons using your Products.
If you feel they are not related to the services or products
you are offering, do not offer anything and remain patient. This way you will
keep your contact intact and they may reach you for your services and/or
products in future.
